Why is the CMSD schedule different from my town’s school schedule? Although our school is located in Lebanon, NH it serves students from many surrounding towns; attending many different schools, including private schools and home school families. It would be impossible to accommodate everyone's school vacation and religious holiday schedules. The class fees at CMSD are based on one class a week for 18 weeks. To ensure no class misses out on any of the 18 classes they paid for there are no individual days that we will be closed for a holiday. Because it seems to be a universal vacation time there is a break the week of Thanksgiving and at the end of December. What if I miss a class? We do realize that emergencies and illness do happen and your dancer may have to miss a class. For this reason we do allow 1 missed class to be made up each semester. To do this there must be room in another class of appropriate level. If an appropriate class is not available the missed class will be forfeited. Why can’t I make up more than 1 class a semester? You will learn the most from attending the class you have been assigned to. At CMSD we strive to keep class sizes small. If too many make ups were allowed, students in the classes full of “make up” students would not be receiving the attention they deserve. This protects the quality of all of our classes. What about weather? CMSD will rarely close due to weather. Just because your town’s school is cancelled does not mean we are closed. In the case CMSD does close due to weather you will be contacted and a make up time will be made available. |
