Why doesn’t CMSD have a recital?
Recitals, though a great opportunity to see your child on stage take a
tremendous amount of class time away from teaching proper technique. Not all
families and students want to participate in them.
When can I see my child dance?
CMSD has an open door policy. You can come watch your dancer anytime you
would like, provided it is not a distraction to class.
What opportunities will my dancer have to perform?
Open house: There will be a short open house at the end of the
semester. This is a great time for families to come watch what their dancers
have been working on without the time investment for parents to sit thru
multiple class performances and minimizes students’ performance anxiety.
Moriglioni Moving Dance Company. Students are required to audition and
the spots are reserved for dancers who have proven to have the attitude,
technique, energy, commitment and passion for dance that is exemplary. It is
reserved for students who have earned the position. I believe children should
be taught to work hard and then be rewarded for the work. The
commitment is multiple shows per year and 2 days a week of rehearsals.
Summer Showcase. This is a performance at the end of the summer.
Students get to work with guest choreographers. This is a great short term way
to work into one of the annual dance companies. The commitment is to be taking
class over the summer .
The dance companies’ performance is one-two weeks after classes
end. Anyone who would like to perform, but is not in one of the dance
companies is invited to come in during this week and learn a few combinations
that will open up the show for the Company performances. The commitment is one-2
weeks, 3-4 hours each day.
