What is the dress code at CMSD?

Girls over 10: black leotard, pink tights

Girls 7-9: light blue leotard, pink tights

Girls 3-6: pink leotard, pink tights

All boys: black dance pants and fitted white shirt

For Everyone: Hair off the neck and face, a water bottle, no jewelry except wedding rings, and a smile.

Why do you have a dress code at CMSD?

Appropriate dance attire allows the instructors to see complete body movements and to assess technique and to correct accordingly.

Having each age group of students distinguished by color can quickly remind instructors what age they are working with to provide appropriate instruction.

Similar attire for all students is less distracting for instructors and students.

Loose hair is distracting and can limit dancers’ visibility.

Jewelry can injure a dancer if they are wearing it or if it was to fall off and be stepped on.

Staying hydrated is important during any physical activity including dance.

Where can I get the dance supplies?
You can get dance supplies a number of places.
  • I will be carrying appropriate dance attire at CMSD beginning August 15, 2009...  so... NO worries as to whether or not you have the right gear!
  • Local stores that carry dance clothes and should be able to tell you just what you need are:
    •     Country Cobbler
    •     On Stage
  • I can order you a start up bag that includes everything you will need.  If you do not want a start up bag, you can still order from the studio.  We have many options of Leotards, Tights, and Shoes available to order.
