Class Information - Attire
Dress Code
Appropriate dance attire allows the instructors to see complete body movements and to assess technique and to correct accordingly. Having each age group of students distinguished by color can quickly remind instructors what age they are working with to provide appropriate instruction, while allowing us to keep students in class based on their ability, not their age. Similar attire for all students is less distracting for instructors and students. Loose hair is distracting and can limit dancers' visibility. Jewelry can injure a dancer if they are wearing it or if it was to fall off and be stepped on. Staying hydrated is important during any physical activity including dance.
To help with consistency in class, all families should plan for making the switch to a Revolution Leotard as of Fall 2012. You can obtain these at CMSD.
Children under 3: whatever they want
Girls 3-5: pink revolution tank leotard, pink tights, tap shoes, ballet shoes
Girls 6-7: lavender revolution tank leotard, pink tights, tap shoes, ballet shoes
Girls 8-9: blue revolution tank leotard, pink convertible tights, tap shoes, ballet shoes
Girls 10-13: black revolution tank leotard, black dance shorts or pink convertible tights, tap shoes, ballet shoes
Girls
14-17: black revolution camisole leotard, black dance shorts or pink convertible tights, tap shoes, ballet shoes
All Boys: white t-shirt, black pants, tap shoes, ballet shoes
Hip Hop students: fun, funky fabulous, comfortable clothes that put you in the mood! dance sneakers are recommended.(NO JEANS)
Modern Students: yoga pants or tights, dance shorts, any color leotard, bare feet
All students: hair neatly off face and neck, water bottle, smile, no jewelry except for wedding rings

I can order you a start up bag that includes everything you will need. If you do not want a start up bag, you can still order from the studio. We have many options of leotards, tights, and shoes available to order and usually in stock.
